Preparing global citizens
Our Secondary School currently serves approximately 120 students from Year 7 through to Year 13. Morogoro International School has developed a curriculum throughout the school in order better to prepare our students for the challenges of a global citizen.
Beginning with Year 7 at Secondary school, we provide a programme that focuses on inquiry-based learning and incorporates global ideas on educating students for challenging future.
In Years 10 and 11 (Key Stage 4), a two-year course is followed, leading to the qualification of International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), a programme designed to suit the needs of an international student body. Students who are successful at IGCSE then move into Year 12 and 13 (Key Stage 5 or Sixth Form), where they follow the AS- or A-Level programme, a well respected and recognised qualification accepted by universities throughout the world.
This framework is delivered by our highly qualified faculty made up of teachers from the UK, France, Zimbabwe, India, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda making us a diverse and truly international department.
Primary school is a vibrant place focused on developing students’ natural curiosity and creativity while facilitating their academic, physical and social/emotional development.
Our Primary School currently serves approximately 160 students from Nursery through Year 6. We are a one stream school that follows the Cambridge Primary International Programme. This framework is delivered by our highly qualified classroom teachers.
The school offers many programs in addition to its regular classroom offerings. Students engage in Music, ICT, Kiswahili, French, Library, Physical Education (P.E.), Swimming and a computer lab with 26 student stations is available to all students on a regular instructional basis.
Learning through play
MIS Early Years provides a warm, caring and engaging environment for our youngest students. Our program serves Nursery and Reception i.e. children ages 2-5. We encourage parents to form engaged partnerships in their child’s learning experience.
More than the classroom
We Are Providing an Environment for Our Students to Grow & Excel
Students of all age-groups are encouraged to excel inside the classroom as much as outside, through being engaged and active in a wide spectrum of creative, physical, social and community activities.
At MIS the after school programme of clubs is very impressive with around 30 different activities on offer ranging from Street Dance to Eco Club. There is also an opportunity for various school sports teams to train on most afternoons including our very successful swim squad – the MIS PIRANHAS.

How it all began
Morogoro International School is one of the oldest genuine international schools in Tanzania having opened its doors to its campus within the grounds of Sokoine University in 1976. It moved to its present site on the edge of the town of Morogoro on the Dodoma road in 1992. Initially a primary school serving a predominately expatriate clientele, the International School of Morogoro as it was formally known, expanded into secondary school education in 2005 with its first cohort of IGCSE exam students sitting in 2010. In August 27th, 2015 it began offering A levels for the first time and we now have over 20 students in our 6th Form.
