MIS Outdoor School is an outdoor education program designed to supplement the curriculum taught in the classroom. From May 15th to 18th, around 60 students from Years 4, 5 and 6 along with their teachers headed to Highlands for what has almost become an end of year pilgrimage for our upper Primary school as they engage in all sorts of team building, character development and educational activities at Outdoor School.
Once again the staff of Highlands hosted our school brilliantly and every child and teacher gained so much from the experience. Most came home pretty exhausted but fortunately the return to school was on Friday and the half term holiday was just around the corner. And amazingly there was hardly a drop of rain throughout!
Apart from various sports taking place including basketball, crab football and swimming, there was the fun of the great obstacle course, various challenges including the bridge building and evening skits and entertainment from students and staff.
On the last day the community service aspect to Outdoor School was fulfilled with a visit to Hekima Day Care Centre (a charitable school set up by the MIS Chair-man, Mr Nikitas) to read with the children there. On the Thursday evening, the three days were concluded with relaxing around the bonfire be-fore some very tired but satisfied children headed to bed.
Thank you to Mrs Laleo, Mr Carlin, Miss Branagan, Mr Joseph, Mrs Rwegoshora and the main organiser of the event, Miss Talley. More details of this fantastic part of the MIS student experience can be found on the Morogoro International School Facebook page.
